How do you teach the children to “Thread the Scriptures”?
There are three scriptures in every lesson. Look for the three Apple symbols throughout the Junior Bulletin (ages 8-11). When the children look up the first scripture, the Torah scripture, we have them write in their margins “Go to (next scripture).” By next scripture, we are referring to the second scripture provided on page two, the Yeshua’s(Jesus') words scripture. After then illuminating that for the children, we again have them write in their margins “Go to (next scripture).” That final scripture is considered by us to be a Life Application scripture. By linking all three of these scriptures together, we show the continuity of God’s word, train them in navigating the bible and teach them a simple, lasting biblical truth.
How do I get access to the “Teacher’s Forum”?
The Teacher's Forum is only available to people who purchase the materials. After your purchase email us at info@goldenapples.org to start the registration process. You are then given a password to log on and provide feedback and ideas as well. Our goal is that everybody’s ideas help one another.
Is this curriculum available to homeschoolers?
This was specifically designed for group discussion and craft time. Certainly that can be done in a family setting and works well in small bible study groups. We would be happy to provide these materials to homeschoolers provided it does not usurp the authority of the local Messianic Congregation. If you have no local Messianic Congregation in your area, you are free to use it as you see fit.
How do you actually use this Children’s Curriculum during services?
Here is what we do at New Beth Israel in Syracuse. About 20 minutes into the service, right after the upbeat praise music, a woman in our congregation walks about with a basket on her arm handing out the crayon bags, the Junior (ages 8-11) and Primary (ages 5-7) Bulletins.
While we continue with the liturgical/worship portion of the service the children color and complete the puzzle pages. When the Torah is processed, the children join in again then are blessed under the chuppah before being dismissed to class. Once in class, the teacher goes over the material contained in the bulletins as part of their structured class time.
